Cookie Policy
What we store on your device, why we store it, and how you can change your mind at any time.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored on your browser when you visit a website. Cookies allow a site to recognise your device on subsequent visits, remember preferences, and gather analytics about how the site is used.
This policy uses “cookies” as a shorthand for cookies, local storage entries, and similar technologies (sometimes called “pixel tags” or “tracking pixels”). Specifically, we use the browser’s localStorage to remember your cookie preference, rather than a cookie itself — this is more privacy-friendly because it is not sent with every server request.
2. Types of cookies we use
We classify our cookies into two categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function. They are set automatically and cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They are only set if you give consent through the cookie banner.
We do not use advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. The specific cookies and storage entries we set
3.1 Strictly necessary
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
pametan_consent_v1 | localStorage (first-party) | Remembers your choice in the cookie banner so we don’t ask again on every page. | Persists until you clear your browser storage or click “Manage cookies” → “Reset”. |
3.2 Analytics — only if you consent
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes between unique visitors with a randomly generated client ID. | 2 years |
_ga_HJ9JLYLLNN | Google Analytics 4 | Persists session state for the GA4 property. | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 (legacy) | Distinguishes between unique visitors. May be set when GA legacy mode is active. | 24 hours |
We have configured GA4 with IP anonymisation enabled and have set the user-data retention to 14 months. We do not use GA4 features that share data with Google’s advertising products (such as Google Signals or Audience Sharing).
Even when you have not granted analytics consent, the Google Analytics script (gtag.js) is loaded on every page in Google Consent Mode v2. In this state no analytics cookies are written and no personal identifiers are recorded — Google receives only a “cookieless ping” containing the page URL, referrer, screen resolution, browser/OS and a non-persistent random ID. These pings contain nothing that could identify you and are used solely for Google’s aggregate visitor modelling. The full set of cookies in the table above is only written once you click Accept all in the cookie banner.
4. Third-party cookies
The Google Analytics cookies above are set by Google when our analytics script loads. They are subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking globally by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We do not allow other third parties to set cookies through this site.
5. Email tracking through Mailgun
We use Mailgun to send our newsletter and other emails. Mailgun may insert tracking pixels and rewritten links into messages we send you, which record:
- whether the email was opened (via a 1×1 pixel image);
- which links you clicked;
- whether the message bounced or was reported as spam.
This tracking happens inside the email itself and does not set cookies on this website. You can prevent open-tracking by configuring your email client to block remote images, and you can unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link at the bottom of every Mailgun-sent email. See Mailgun’s Privacy Policy for more information.
6. Managing your cookie preferences
6.1 On this site
Click Manage cookies to open the consent banner and change your choice. The banner appears automatically on your first visit.
6.2 In your browser
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings:
If you block strictly necessary cookies in your browser, parts of this site may not function correctly — including the cookie banner itself.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of analytics. When we detect a GPC signal in your browser request, we treat it as the equivalent of selecting “Reject all” in our banner — even if you have not yet interacted with it.
“Do Not Track” (DNT) headers do not have a consistent specification across browsers, so we do not respond to them automatically — but you can always control analytics through the cookie banner.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add, remove or change a cookie, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. Where the change is material, we will require you to renew your consent via the banner.
